Titans LP – Dinosaur Head (White Disc)
Cabeça Dinossauro is the third studio album by the Brazilian rock band Titãs, released on June 25, 1986 by WEA. It marked the debut of the band's partnership with producer Liminha, who, at the time, was director of WEA, which facilitated the approach of both parties. It also guaranteed their first gold record, received in December of the same year.
The album marks the sound change that the group wanted to take from a combination of factors, such as the "low success" of their previous album, Televisão, the imprisonment of Arnaldo Antunes and Tony Bellotto at the end of 1985 and the relationship of the Titans with their record label.
The recording sessions took place in the studio Nas Nuvens, in Rio de Janeiro, between the months of March and April. The band's new sound palette featured obvious influences from punk rock, post-punk, funk rock and reggae. For critic Alberto Villas, writing at the time of its release for O Estado de S. Paulo, "it is a shocking, punk, nervous and very curious album. A rock-poison album, a scream. An album of surprises.
Cabeça Dinossauro became one of the foundational albums of Brazilian rock, and alongside other musical works, configured the Brazilian scene in the midst of redemocratization. It is known for its famous cover that presents a sketch by Leonardo Da Vinci, entitled "The expression of a man screaming" The album includes the band's hits, such as "Homem Primata", "Familia" and "Bichos Scrotos" In 2007, it was included in the list of the "100 Best Records of Brazilian Music" by Rolling Stone Brazil, ranking 19th.
